Ah To Be Reading and Blogging

I am still mourning the loss of my deleted award winning blog on Blogspot. I am trying to make a go of it here but things keep happening. I am trying to keep my chin up as I am generally a glass is half full type of girl. I have read two very good books I want to talk about and have the authors come on my blog for interviews. I know one author is very interested and I am excited because her book is one of the best I have read in months. The other was wildly imaginative and I cannot wait to read part two. I also have a wonderful book blitz of a wonderful book by a dear friend that I want to bring to your attention. And from this same author I will have his book two cover reveal. I had a peak and it is pretty awesome.

So why have I not been blogging? I tore my right shoulder in three places and do not even know how I did it! So it hurts to type no matter how still I try to keep my hands (and I type fast!). In fact is is impossible to do everything as I am right handed. So no holding a book. Even reading on  my computer I have to have my little wing up on pillows. But the pain is messing up my concentration. So I see the surgeon tomorrow and find out my fate. So anyone who reads this and prays, say a little one for me that this all goes well. I really miss my blogging. I can deal with links not working etc but I miss blogging everyday and it really hurts to type as I already mentioned.

So I would love you to comment. Any authors tell me about your books and readers you can also tell me what you are reading. I have PLENTY of books to read but they are old already! (meaning beginning of the year was their publishing date). I have not been online so I am not up on book news either. I feel so out of the loop. So drop me a line and introduce yourself. I would love to read your blog too.

Well that is about all I can write without too much pain. So I hope to bring this blog up to speed! Keep checking back things are about to get good.

Love and Light,

Mismatched Bookend Tours

Hello Fellow Readers :)

Happy Tuesday! I just want you to know that I have been having massive problems with this site, even going so far as to have my good friend go on to try to post for me. I  know many of you do not know my great blog that I had on Blogspot.com. I am trying to build that following back up. So keep checking back now that I can get on I hope this is the blog you will turn to for book news, information, meeting new authors and finding out about new books, having fun, entering contests, etc. I cannot wait to start meeting new friends who love books as much as I do. Please feel free to leave a comment. I am interested in what my readers want. If you want me to showcase a book or author or a book subject, please let me know by commenting.

Be on the lookout for a book blitz by a wonderful friend and author coming this week!

A Fond Farewell – A Drabble

She was reading a book. That is all she seemed to do lately. She was an avid reader. Her husband loved that about her – until the obsession. It started with a book site, then a book blog. She lived, breathed, and if she could, would eat a book. She read day and night –  not cooking, cleaning or helping out. Her husband warned her a few times that he was near breaking point. She kept reading. One day he said he was going for milk. She kept reading. And she has been for the five years he has been gone.

15 Author Pages You Should Like on Facebook

(from bookriot.com
by Kate Scott)

Want more bookishness if your Facebook feed? Check out these wicked awesome author fan pages.

1. Paulo Coelho

If you want to get philosophical on social media, definitely check out Coelho’s page. It features a lot of quotes by the author in English and Spanish.

2. Patricia Cornwell

The crime writer posts news about and quotes from her books as well as photos from her travels.

3. Junot Díaz

This is a great page to like if you want to stay informed about social and political topics ranging from immigration to gay marriage among minorities. Díaz posts a lot of news articles and interviews about important issues. Most of the posts are in English, but a few are in Spanish.

4. Neil Gaiman

Everyone knows Neil Gaiman is the cat’s pajamas, but did you know he also has a very cool Facebook page? He posts stuff like Weird Al’s “Word Crimes” music video and pictures of him icing his hand after signing too many books.

5. John Green

Green is the social media king of YA authors and this is just as obvious on Facebook as it is on every other platform where he has a presence. He posts stuff like why geography is dumb, covers of his books in different translations, and of course, links to his latest Vlogbrother videos.

6. Mindy Kaling

Kaling may only be a first-time author at this point, but that is more than enough to include her on this list in my opinion, especially when you consider how freaking awesome her Facebook page is. She posts stuff like pictures of where her book should be placed in bookstores and Wikipedia articles about correctional facilities that mention her TV show.

7. Stephen King

Stephen King is so successful he could probably get away with not even having a Facebook page, but not only does he have one, he actually posts to it himself and *gasp* responds to reader’s comments. Rock on, Mr. King.

8. Jodi Picoult

Jodi Picoult is another author who interacts with her readers on her Facebook page. If you’re a fan, her page is a must-like for keeping up with her schedule and book news.

9. Anne Rice

Rice is nothing if not loyal to her fans. She interacts constantly with readers on her Facebook page and, as one Rioter pointed out, has her assistant apologize on her behalf if she’s been absent from the page for too long. In addition to promoting her books she posts a lot of interesting articles and encourages friendly debate and discussion.

10. Rick Riordan

Popular YA author of the Percy Jackson series and Bostonian (yay!) Rick Riordan publishes his tweets through his Facebook page, so if you don’t have a Twitter account and want to keep up with him, liking his Facebook page is a great way to do that. Also he’s a Doctor Who fan, so…

11. Rainbow Rowell

Rainbow Rowell is everywhere these days–Time Magazine, The New York Times, and The Riot Read, just to name a few. She posts book news, tour plans, and cool fanart on her Facebook page.

12. Lisa See

See is a writer of histocial novels, so it is only appropriate that her Facebook page is a great place to learn about the real life history behind many of her stories. She also posts about her research and book tour adventures.

13. Danielle Steel

Danielle Steel posts a letter to her Facebook fans every month along with updates about her books and travel plans. She’s also been known to get philosopical every now and then.

14. Amy Tan

Naturally the brilliant and ageless Amy Tan would have a terrific Facebook page. She posts photos of her travels, as well as flashback photos from her childhood. She also ocassionally posts about current events.

15. Zane

The famous writer of romance and erotica is very active on her Facebook page and interacts regularly with fans. She also uses her page to raise awareness about domestic violence, have candid conversations about sex, and post various news articles.

Things and Stuff

Did I get you? Did you want to read this? I hope so.🙂

I have some new followers that I want to say hello to:

Thank you so much for supporting me and my blog. I really appreciate it. I promise I will have some awesome events coming up.

It has been very hard for me to start blogging again after my award winning blog was totally deleted. I am still working on getting it restored but it is not looking good.

I do not want to sound whiny, but I knew what to do so much better on my old blog. I was used to what keyboard buttons did what functions, the layout that I could change at will, my widgets..oh all the widgets! So normally my blog has a post or two (or more!) every day but I am trying to get used to wordpress and get back into the swing of things. I do not know if any of you have had your blog erased, never to return, but if you have I feel very bad for you. If you want to share about it, please do.

So I hope you spread the news about my blog and I hope you stick with me. In the meantime, keep coming back and I promise it will be fun and interesting!

Love to all my readers,

The Buzz About the Book

Mother and Son Review by MDBR: “Flight of the Mite is a delightful, rhyming picture book featuring an adorable little mite who dreams big as the main character; a magical story underscoring the importance of imagination in children’s development; and absolutely gorgeous and whimsical illustrations. I highly recommend this book to children ages 3 to 8 and I think it would be a great choice for reading aloud to children in a classroom or library setting.”

“This is our new favourite story to read and will be a book that we will be keeping to pass down to future member of our family.” ~ Raincity Parent

“This wonderful piece of children’s literature is well crafted and appropriate for children and adults, the message is clear, embrace diversity, ones weakness may actually be strength. The most interesting and entertaining part is that there is a consistent rhythm and rhyme to the story, keeping the powerful message light and playful.” ~ Active Lee Dadding

” I have read the sweetest story!…The combination of these two talents [i.e., the author and illustrator] working together has left us with a sweet rhyming story about a little mites big imagination.” ~ Moments in Mommyland

“I recently received a new children’s book to review called Flight of the Mite. So of course I went to the best critic in the house – my 4 year old son[…]. We sat down to read the story together and discovered a delightful tale about imagination and discovery… The illustrations are delightful and [my son] insisted that we stop to discuss some of them along the way. There was more than one “wow!” over a picture of the mite climbing a dandelion.” ~ Prenatal to Parenting

After high school, he attended SFU, where he obtained a degree in Criminology and met his beautiful wife, Linda.
